Janice Marie (Suitt) Barker

Janice Marie Suitt Barker, age 75 of Sparta passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at her home.  Mrs. Barker was born July 9, 1947 in Ashe County to the late Clifford Blaine and Martha Annie Pugh Suitt.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lester Barker. Janice loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.  She loved going to Pigeon Forge, TN, doing crossword puzzles and watching Andy Griffith and soap operas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, August 29, 2022 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Nathan Caparolie.  Burial will follow in the Howell Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to the service.

Mrs. Barker is survived by, daughters, Becky Parsons (Joey) of Deep Gap and Shelia Barker of Sparta, sisters, Susie Robertson and Barbara Nichols both of Independence, brother, Gilbert Suitt (Donna) of Mouth of Wilson,  grandchildren, Felicia Barker, Amanda Finger (Isaiah), Andrew Barker (Kelsey), Dylan Peredes (Morgan) and Kelsey Greene (Seth), great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Jaxon Greene and Macyn Finger. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the family c/o Badger Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., West Jefferson, NC  28694.
