John Thomas Ring

John Thomas Ring, better known as Thomas, age 35 of Glendale Springs passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ring was born on September 30, 1985 in Ashe County to John Ray Ring and Wilma Jean Barker Ring. He was preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents, and father-in-law, Donald Ray Miller.

Mr. Ring was the Captain of the Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He had been a paramedic since 2019 and loved his job with Wilkes County EMS. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and being outdoors.

Mr. Ring is survived by:  his wife Marti Miller Ring; father, John Ray Ring of West Jefferson; sister, Shelly Ring Church of Crumpler; at the time of his passing his mother-in-law, Rose Marie Miller (she has since passed away on September 9, 2021); one niece and two nephews; friends that were like brothers, Joe Wallace and Dustin Burgess; special nephews, Canaan and Dawson; all his friends, fellow firefighters, and fellow EMS workers.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 3:30 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Wade Huntsinger and Rev. Justin Baugess. Burial will follow in the Claude Mash Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021 prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department or Wilkes County EMS.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Wilkes County EMS, Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and Wilkes Regional Medical Center staff for the care, support, and prayers during this time.
