Larry Paul Darnell

Larry Paul Darnell, better known as “Slick”, age 73 of Lansing, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at his home. Mr. Darnell was born on March 25, 1949 in Ashe County to Paul Henry Darnell and Evelyn Osborne Darnell. He was preceded in death by his father and a great-nephew Kody Mullis.

Mr. Darnell served in the U.S. Army. He was a hard worker who worked all his life in construction and logging. He was a very talented woodworker. He had a kind heart for animals and loved his dogs. He was well liked and had many friends. He was a loving husband, son, and brother and will be truly missed.

Mr. Darnell is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Reda Osborne Darnell; his mother, Evelyn Darnell of Lansing; three sisters, Mary (J.D.) Scott of Jefferson, Jan Elliott of West Jefferson, and Melissa (Scott) Greene of Lansing; special cousin, Eddie Stansberry of Lansing; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service with military rites will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens by Rev. Ambrose Jones and Rev. Tommy Dollar.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, 3470 U.S. Highway 221 North, Jefferson, NC 28640.
